Jennifer Anderson, DVM, CVA

Dr. Jennifer Anderson is originally from the Midwest but went to high school in Boca Raton, FL, where she was an avid volleyball player. She received her bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2005 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, both from Purdue University. Go Boilers! In 2017, she attended the Chi Institute and became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.

After graduation from Purdue, Dr. Anderson worked for a year in Georgia as a mixed animal veterinarian where she enjoyed working with large animals such as cattle and horses along with dogs and cats. After a year in the south, she returned to the Midwest where she did some relief work in the area for a year and then finally found her home at Lincolnway Veterinary Clinic in the fall of 2010. She is on the Potawatomi Zoological Board and is a member of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, Michiana Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.

She has special interests in nutrition, holistic medicine (especially veterinary food therapy, homeopathy, homotoxicology, and acupuncture), and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.

Fun Fact: She has three spoiled rotten cats named George, Rocky, and Wrigley. She has two human children as well. Outside of the office, she enjoys anything outdoors, such as gardening, hiking, biking, volleyball, golf, and snowmobiling.

Dr. Anderson recently achieved the International Society of Feline Medicine Advanced Certificate in Feline Behaviour with Merit.

Dr. Anderson dedicated her heart and expertise to caring for the pets and families of our community. Her compassion, commitment, and love for veterinary medicine continue to inspire everything we do. It is our honor to carry on her legacy by providing the same trusted, compassionate care she gave to every patient who walked through our doors.

Veterinarians

Richard Headley, DVM

Dr. Richard Headley is a native of the west side of South Bend and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. He went to Purdue and graduated from the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in 1967. During veterinary school, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and went on active duty immediately after graduation. He served 25 months, mostly at Ft. Irwin, CA where he was Post Veterinarian, Public Health Officer, Wildlife Management Officer and operated the on-post full-service veterinary clinic. In addition, he provided veterinary care for a U.S. Marine stable in Barstow, CA. Since there was no large animal veterinarian within 100 miles of Barstow, Dr. Headley was given permission to operate an emergency large animal practice after duty hours during his assignment at Ft. Irwin.

After discharge, he joined a private practice in Michigan where he stayed for 12 years. Then in 1971, he bought the Lincolnway Veterinary Clinic and remained owner until recently, when he turned it over to Dr. Anderson.

Dr. Headley’s medical interests include general practice, but he also enjoys orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, and pain management. He is proud to be the board chairman of the VIN Foundation, a 501 (C.3) charitable foundation with the mission of assisting veterinarians as they navigate their professional life transitions. Their primary focus is preparing aspiring vet students for what lies ahead, assisting in educating vet students and newer graduates in managing student debt, and offering support for the many veterinarians who are in emotionally fragile positions.

Outside of the practice, he taught CPR to the general public under the auspices of the American Heart Association with support from the Mishawaka Kiwanis Club. His leadership in working with his team earned him Mishawaka Man of the Year honors in 1985.

Fun Fact: He enjoys golf, outdoor activities, reading, cooking, and just relaxing. He has a very spoiled Chihuahua named Raisin that likes to share peanut butter with him every night.

Dr. Lauren, DVM

Dr. Lauren Funderburg was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, and graduated from New Prairie High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Manchester University in 2022 before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University in 2026. She completed her clinical year at Michigan State University and is excited to return home to serve the community where she was raised.

Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Funderburg spent four years working as a veterinary assistant at Lincolnway Veterinary Clinic. Returning to Lincolnway as an associate veterinarian is a full-circle moment, and she looks forward to building lasting relationships with clients while providing compassionate, personalized care for their pets.

Dr. Funderburg has a special interest in small animal rehabilitation and is passionate about continuing her education in the field. She hopes to incorporate rehabilitation into her practice to offer patients additional treatment options that improve mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life.

Fun Fact: Dr. Funderburg lived on the Caribbean island of Grenada for three years while attending veterinary school. She shares her home with her two 17-year-old cats, Pokes and Printer, who have been with her throughout much of her journey to becoming a veterinarian.

Lindsey, RVT

Originally from Elkhart, IN, Lindsey went to Elkhart Memorial High School and then attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and graduated in 2014 with her bachelor's degree in veterinary technology. Boiler up! She is absolutely a crazy cat lady. Lindsey loves horses and has been riding since she was 9! If not at work, you can probably catch her reading a book or trying to force her cats to love her more!

Kaitlin, RVT

Kaitlin is from Mishawaka. She loves helping to educate our clients, learning about animal behavior, and being Fear Free Certified! Kaitlin is eager to continue learning about training animals, resolving behavioral issues, and making pets feel as comfortable as possible at the vet. She has 4 dogs of her own: 2 German Shepherds, Apollo and Xena, a Beagle named Dixie, and a Chihuahua named Mickey. In her free time Kaitlin loves reading, kayaking, and hanging out at the beach with her dogs. She also loves a good Netflix series binge!

Hi all, I'm Jasmin. I’m originally from Indianapolis. I’m currently in school to become a RVT. I have two fur babies of my own Pandora (Brittany Spaniel) and Kingsley (Chihuahua)

Outside of work I enjoy reading, crocheting, baking and all things orange. I enjoy cool fall evenings snuggled up near a fireplace with a good fantasy novel.

Shelly, CSR

Shelly was born in Cali, raised in Texas, and has resided here in Mishawaka since late childhood. She has a passion for compassion and positivity and has wanted to help all pets and their owners alike for as long as she can remember. You can find Shelly with a smile always on her face! She enjoys the cooler weather and the breeze of a fall evening! She loves all things spooky and is really interested in the slithery, creepy, and crawly friends- although spiders may fall out of this category for now.

Valeria is from Plymouth, IN. The main thing she loves about vet med is meeting pets and their owners and being able to have a small part in their story. Her family currently has 2 German Shepherds, Toby and Dakota, along with 2 finches, Punky and Lily (they later found out that Lily is, in fact, a dude). Valeria’s favorite foods are French fries and angel hair noodles with a Mexican sauce, and her favorite color is blue. An interesting fact about her is that she has had the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Mexico for mission trips.

Bethannie is originally from northern Indiana. She loves learning everything she can about the veterinary industry and has wanted to work in the field since being a small child. She loves summertime, Mexican food and pastel pink. She was a cheerleader for 4 years, loves dogs more than people, and loves the ocean.

Makaelee, CSR

Makaelee was born and raised in northern Indiana. She has always had a passion for animals and loves learning about behavior and grooming. Her interest in veterinary medicine started at a young age, but was further influenced when her family started to bring their pets to Lincolnway and she met Dr. Headley. She was inspired by Dr. Headley’s love for pets and care for their families and couldn’t imagine working in any other field. In her free time, you can find her in her garden, hiking with her 2 dogs, or reading.

Brandi, CSR

Brandi joined the LVC team in the summer of 2024 and brought along with her knowledge of working directly with animals, as well as assisting owners and their pets at the front desk. She has always had a love and kindness for animals, and you can find her at the front desk or in the room assisting you and your pet's needs!

Brandi is currently working towards her graphic design degree and currently has her photography degree and is excited to be working towards becoming an animal/landscape photographer! While she’s not working or doing schooling, you can find her enjoying her hobbies, such as gardening, being in nature, relaxing with her cat, video games, photography, making art, enjoying a puzzle, or traveling!

I spent my formative years in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Indiana when I was 7. I have been married for 21 years. I love all things animal! I had the pleasure of being a temporary zookeeper at the Potowatomi Zoo taking care of the small primates and red pandas. I enjoy cooking, reading and hanging out with my fuzzy kids! I make resin and mosaic art including pet memorials.
